About Our Group
Our Vision
For generations, people of mixed racial and cultural backgrounds have often been asked a simple but complicated question: “What are you?” The question may seem harmless, but it reflects a larger social expectation that people should fit neatly into racial categories. For many multiracial people, identity doesn't fit into a single box, and it shouldn't have to.
Mixed & Whole: The Right to Define! is a social change movement dedicated to increasing recognition, understanding, and acceptance of multiracial identity. Our movement challenges the idea that mixed-race people must choose one racial identity, prove their belonging, or allow others to determine who they are.
Being mixed does not mean being divided between cultures, communities, or racial identities. It can mean carrying multiple histories, experiences, traditions, and perspectives at the same time. Our differences do not make our identities less authentic. They make them our own.
This movement calls for a broader understanding of racial identity that recognizes the voices and lived experiences of multiracial people. Everyone deserves the right to define themselves, to belong without explanation, and to be recognized as whole.
Our Message
You do not have to choose.
You do not have to explain.
You have the right to define who you are.

Mixed & Whole
The Right to Define
Welcome to Mixed & Whole, a space created to recognize, explore, and celebrate the experiences of people who identify as mixed-race and multiracial.
For too long, mixed-race people have been asked to explain who they are, choose one identity over another, or prove that they belong. Mixed & Whole challenges those expectations by asking a different question: What if we stopped asking people to choose and started respecting how they define themselves?
This movement explores the psychological and sociological experiences of multiracial people across generations, including identity, belonging, discrimination, racial categorization, and the pressures that can come with navigating multiple cultures and communities.
Whether you are multiracial, have a multiracial family member or friend, or simply want to better understand the experiences of others, you are welcome here.
Our message is simple:
You do not have to choose.
You do not have to prove your identity.
You are not divided.
You are Mixed & Whole.
Explore the research, learn from lived experiences, and join us in creating a culture where every person has the right to define who they are.
